In the historiographic debate, the Italian Risorgimento has always been a crucial issue.
But what was the Risorgimento? And how, how and by whom it was studied? What and how many interpretations? What the latest trends historiographical of this crucial period of our history? Starting from these questions will be our task to show the addresses of historiography in the works of synthesis during the past fifteen years about the Risorgimento, its large "figures" and its "significance" in the formation of a national identity.
