An Autopoiesis is essentially the mechanism by which living systems continually produce themselves as autonomous units. A firm is subject to changes and is able to maintain an overall stability due to autopoiesis. The theory of autopoiesis has its roots in the field of neurobiology and is used to explain cognition in living systems.
